Everything above assumes a moderate ambient temperature. In an Australian summer — where a blackout during a heatwave might mean 35–40°C in your house — all of these timelines compress significantly.
At 35°C ambient temperature with the fridge door closed, the fridge interior will reach 5°C within approximately 2 hours, not 4. At 40°C, possibly faster. In a summer blackout, assume a 2-hour window for fridge items, not 4.
